Back-to-school is upon us again, and between that and work projects for clients, my mind has been full, and putting thoughts together for a post has been a struggle.
But I did want to fill y’all in on a couple of things that have been going on:
~ For various reasons, our weekly roundup of gifted news and resources is being moved to Saturdays. So look for it tomorrow.
~We’ve been in the midst of a lot of advocating for one of children. I plan on writing more about it, so that others might benefit from it, but I have to get some thoughts together and figure out how best to write about it and be respectful of my children’s privacy as well.
~I was recently invited to meet with Dr. Pouncey, Alabama’s Chief of Staff State Superintendent of Education, along with Amy Waine (AAGC’s President) and Patti Wood (an AAGC Board member). It was an honor to be able to discuss the gifted education across the state with him, and I’m hopeful that some positive changes are in the works.
~I will be speaking at the Alabama Association for Gifted Children’s Annual Conference in September. I will be giving a talk on Friday, which is the day of the track specifically for parents. My talk will be about advocating for our gifted children, and followed with a Q&A portion.
~I’m also speaking at our local WordCamp next week, on blogging. My session title is “Everything I Need To Know About Blogging, I Learned in Kindergarten”. Hopefully, my talk is as clever as the title ;)
I think that’s about it (or at least all that my brain can recall at the moment…). What have y’all been up to?
Happy Friday!
